Niu, Forgeworld Thousand Sons Dreadnought by skycat Niu, Forgeworld Thousand Sons Dreadnought by skycat
This is Niu, a Dreadnought for my Thousand Sons army. His arms, sensors/heavy flamer, waist and head are magnetised for posing and weapon switching. The tabard and chain were made from scratch with greenstuff. This was my first real time sculpting anything decent, heh.

One day I'll make a snow/ice base for him as well, and touch up a couple of small areas, but for now I'm pretty happy with him. :D

[link] this guy did some cool stuff with silicone that adds some details to lava bases maybe give it a little flare , the model is awesome itself though coolest looking dreadnought I've seen.

Thanks! Hehe, this was the first lava base I did, so yeah, it's not the greatest. The lava bases on my terminators are much better, I think. That's a nifty link though, I'll hafta keep it in mind, cheers. :D

Thousand Sons is definitely my favorite traitor legion, Forgeworld has amazing models, and you are a stellar painter. This is amazing. I especially love the glowing effects you managed with the eyes and plasma cannon. And, I couldn't tell that the tabard was GS homemade, it's that good.

What colors did you use for the plasma cannon's coil?

Thank you very much for the comment! Forgeworld does make some amazing models, and I'm glad I was able to do this once justice. :D The Sons are definitely one of the most interesting Legions, I think.

The colours I used for the plasma cannon were, if I remember correctly, Ice Blue base and drybrush White. I think I also used a bit of Asurman Blue wash somewhere in there as well, and once I'd finished I painted over the coils with Gloss 'Ardcoat.

That... is.... BOSS! :faint:

Seriously fine sculpting work on the chains. I can never get anything I work with to behave.

And the color work is unbelievable. Everything from the armor to the glowing effects on the visor, lava, and plasma cannon are intensely neat and well thought out. Keep up the astounding work!

Thank you! :D I had to practice a few greenstuff chains before I tried it on the actual model - greenstuff can be such a pain to work with, heh. Hooray for internet tutorials!

i tried something sorta similar with some Thousand Sons flavored terminators once. they didn't come out at all like I'd pictured in my head but they still looked pretty cool.

Jaw droping. but i think i see a flaw;) the star decal was the pre-heresy symbol, while heresy era its more like a snake eating his tail.
